Does any one know where i can cross reference Dana 60 gears? i have a set of gears i want to put in a front d60, they came out of a rear d60 but i don't know what make it is they seem to be the same except for the pinon spline.

thanks

AFAIK D60 gears are the same no matter hp/lp or Ford/Dodge GM/IH.

Never heard of one that had a different spline count, maybe they're really old?

And what are you looking for via a cross reference?

I thought the HP D60 gears are reverse cut.

All other D60 gears are the same whether it be front or rear.

Oops, that's very true (I was thinking of carriers which are the same across the board).

Carriers aren't all the same either, there are some old rare 16 spline, then 30 and 35 spline but all will bolt into a D60 housing.

Carriers are the same, side gears are not but you're correct in pointing out that you'd need to make sure that the side gears match the shafts that are to be used.

thanks for the help i thought they were the same but the coarse spline on the pinon threw me off. i don't know any thing about this axle except that it was in the scrap metal bin it looked like crap and had the factory tag on the cover.i took it home opened it up to find a lot of water and some really thick gear oil and 456 gears that look pretty good. I'm going to put them in my front d60. and it was free:D
