In this ad I can clearly see that the axle is a D60 from the king pins, steering arm, and the spring perch on the pumpkin.

My question, is that the hubs look like the early external mount D44 hubs and not those of a D60. Is this a freak thing, or is it that style of aftermarket hub? Ive seen those before, just not like that.

And Id be on that axle like nobodys business if I had the cash.

Those are external lock-out hubs from an early Dodge. The axle is from a Dodge and not a GM. The left spring pearch is an easy way to tell.

Yep, external hub D60. Much less desirable because they are more failure prone (bolts tend to get loose and the hub fails) and there is no 35 spline outer shaft option, at least not without custom work.

So, if you need the strength, you're in for 35 spline outers, new hubs/drive flanges and new wheel hubs. Honestly, the two new hubs are more than the asking price.

That makes a $1K Chevy D60 look awfully good, IMO most Dodge D60 aren't worth looking at unless they're dirt cheap or from '89-93 Cummins trucks (when they changed design and went to internal hubs).

I have a set of those hubs that were taken off my chevy dana 60 20 years ago. Still dont know why I kept them or still have them?

Relooking at thepics now I have to go outside anddig them out to see if they are the same style selectro.

They also have neck down inner shafts.....and the spring pad width is just a little bit different....but will still bolt up....

I bought one of these and have it in my truggy...It's not a bad axle...
and if you can find a set of hubs and axles on the cheap, it may be well worth looking at.

I rebuilt mine completely stock when I bought it, ad run it with the open carrier and run 44"TSL's with no problems (so far... )

when I put the front drive slugs on, I used grade 8 studs in the hubs with red locktite, and lock nuts. I check them before each run and they seem to hold up OK. I ran Selectro hubs for a while, but was not impressed with them at all....

Some day I'll make the upgrade to chevy hubs.....
