Putting my knuckles back on the Dana 60.

I have Yukon master kit 32304 (YP KP-001).

Comes with 3 Seals. In the photo I marked them as 1, 2 and 3. I can't find any sources showing where Seal #3 goes.

1 = Lower Bearing Seal
2 = Upper Bushing/Spring seal (Basing that from the old torn seal also visible in the photo that came off the axle - does that go cone facing up or down??)
3 = Unknown - I can't find an old part like this that came off axle

Any help is appreciated

There are two versions of the upper seal, use whichever you think works better on your axle. GM axles typically use the thin one, either way you'll end up with an extra.

Those nuts in the picture don't belong anywhere on that axle either by the way, why Yukon always includes those :surepal:

Understood. OK, that makes me feel better that I was missing something. I looked everywhere for the "other" seal and was going crazy.

I have the smaller seal from when I disassembled my axle. Will BOTH work or is it one or the other?

BTW, what are your thoughts on the upper and lower cap gaskets that come with the rebuild kits? Use the seals with RTV or just go with RTV and ditch the gaskets?

I doubt you can use both.

Seems like I've used the taller one more often than not on GM axles but I've also seen the tall one is supposed to be the Ford one. Every gm d60 I've been into had the short one, but they also often didn't touch both sides and probably didn't do a whole lot. If you can fit the bigger one it will likely seal better.

You can use gaskets but I've always used rtv only, does the job and preloads the spring up top just a little more which pretty much only helps.

Thanks...I'll check out the taller seal and see how it matches with the knuckle
