Having trouble locating a Dana 60. Found one nearby that sat outside for a long time. Rotors and calipers are crap, it's a Dodge. One axle U-joint is broke. He wants $900 for it. He won't budge on the price. I passed yesterday and said I'd get back to him. Should I keep looking, or is this deal okay? Damn I just can't find one close. Got the money and ready to buy!!

Keep looking. You can find a unit ready to bolt in and go for $900 or less. Don't buy something that needs immediate attention such as the parts you described when you can find a good, ready to run unit for the same or less.

I say pass also. I've found a few units in my area that are bolt in and run ready for that or less.

I'd pass, but it depends on the area. D60's are worth a lot more in some areas than they are in others.

$1K seems the going rate for a GM or "good" (i.e. passenger drop, kingpin) Dodge) D60 around here (I've sold a bunch of them in that range). High pinion Ford front ends are worth more like $1500.

hold out, it took me three years to find my d60 with a truck attached to it. two of those years were everyday hard lookin classifieds craigslist ect ect.

Doesn't sound like that bad of a price. new rotors and calipers can be had for under $150. If it's got the right gears and they aren't bad, it's a decent find.
