So my ex-boyfriend and I bought a '91 K5 Blazer together...I loved that truck, but him and I recently broke up, and he got the truck...I recently found a better K5 with a hell of a lot of modifications done, and am quite interested in buying it...however...the guy selling it says it has a Dana 60 rear end...I snapped some pix, and it's got 12 bolts...I'll see if my buddy can post a pic in a minute...

So..my question is...I thought the Dana 60 was a 10 bolt...was it ever made with 12? I'm just getting back into the 4x4 scene after a 3 year absence, and can't remember any of this stuff...a little help guys?

Thanks :)

ok, my friend (who will be half owner with me on this truck) is lazy as all hell...so I'll post the pic:

looks to me like the stock 12 bolt?

Yeah...that's what I was thinking as well....so either this guy is trying to screw me around because he thinks I'm some dumb chick...or the dude that sold him the truck lied to him as well.

i did a bit of google and it appears to be a 12 bolt from the covers i saw, + the 60 had 10 bolts as you mentioned

I think the guy lied to him...

Cuz he told me about it when we first called him along with the last of other mods, all of which we saw ourselves.

I dont get why he'd lie about that one part and risk losing the sale??

Especially when he was honest about other stuff he didnt have to be, like the winch not working and the horn and stuff.

because I have tits...that means I know nothing about trucks  and therefore he can use big words to try to impress me and up the chances of a sale

Can I just become a boy now? :(

Theres no mistaking a corporate 12-bolt when you've seen enough of them. Dana 60's basically look like Dana44's on steroids. Someone was mis-informed, and someone lied.

Its really sad.

I'm glad you came on the board , tits and all:wink1: ,to check it out before you bought the K5.

Now if the price isn't bad on the truck, its time to start talking about swapping that 12-bolt out for a Dana60 or FF14-bolt:D

why would someone upgrade a 12-bolt for a 10-bolt? That isn't an upgrade, thats like saying you're going to shoot the president in the head instead of the heart. Both are going to bring the same demise. '89-'91 1/2 ton blazers and burbs had 30-spline shafts in the rear 10-bolts.....all previous had 28-spline shafts, including the older 12-bolts. Other than slight ring-gear size differences there is nothing between the two that stands out and screams "upgrade".
