I wish I would have found that when I rebuilt mine. I had to go through several different vendors for all those parts. I have done business with 4WD Factory before though and was happy with the service.

That's reasonable. I had around 600$ in mine. But i had 5.13 gears, and no Kingpin rebuild. These things aren't cheap.

I think i'll save the hex wrench for later. I got is mostly tore down and the kingpin looks good so i'm just gonna leave it for now. I'm glad it comes with the bottom knuckle plates cuz mine are stuck and i'm tired of ******* around with it so I'm gonna try to carefully grind them off.

I do have a question though. All the bearing look good still. Could I save these for spairs and reuse them???

As long as they arn't pitted. Clean 'em up and replace the grease.

The kingpin portion of the kit is probably $90+ of the kit. If you aren't replacing them, it's probably way cheaper to just get the bearings and seals by themselves.

well I wasn't planning on replacing the lower kingpin cap, but they won't come off so I'm gonna have to get the grinder after it. I'm gonna take the carrier out anyway to clean the pumpkin real good. The axle tubes got some rust and dirt that made its way in there so.....

You don't need a grinder to get the lower cap off. Just use a putty knife to get under it and tap it around with a heavy rubber mallet.

tried it. then tried it with a big shop hammer, still can't get it to break apart. Even some liquid wrench didn't help make it budge. both sides are like this.

I think your going to ruin the cap if you grind it. mine was very hard to remove, but hammering the sides to make it twist in the bore helped a lot.

yeah I haven't tried heating it. Gotta work this week So I'll give it a shot when I get off. You think just a little propane bottle torch will do the trick?

I used a big hammer and a cold chisel at the parting line as well as a punch on the dust cover (once it is crushed, you are pounding on the end of the lower kingpin). It marked up the caps a bit, but they eventually cam off. A little clean up with a grinder and they were good as new. That part was way more difficult for me than the upper kingpins.

I figure:

Kingpin rebuild = $50x2
Wheel Bearings & Seals = $50x2
Axle U-joints = $40x2
Master Rebuild = $100
Spindle Rebuild Kit = $10x2
Inner Axle Seals = $10x2

= $420 Give or take.

Now I've opened myself up to everybody posting that they got thier parts for $2 less.

You'll need something hotter than propane. If you get a can of MAPP gas (I think that's what it's called), which will work with a propane torch head, but the flame is hotter. Propane usually is a blue bottle, the other gas comes in a red bottle.

Now that I think of it, I did have a totally seized on lower kingpin cap last year on a parts axle. We had to use an oxy/acetylene torch to heat it up to get the cap off. Never had a problem with a lower kingpin cap except for that one.

When using a chisel as someone suggested, be careful not to mangle your steering knuckle surface.
