I am parts shopping right now for my front D60. In your professional opinions is it worth the extra money for the Reid/Dedenbear Knuckles? Yes, I know it depends on the type of terrain I will be driving on (fast high speed with some air, and slow rock crawling...no mud) and my driving style (somewhat hard on parts). Anyone out there running the huge dual piston GM calipers up front? I have a pair on the AAM 11.5 that is going to go into the rear of my K5 and my buddy is putting them up front on his trophy truck. He had to fab up some new mounts though.

Thanks

I think you answered your own question about the knuckles. I would get them. I am planning on a set sometime in the future. It's just good insurance.

Thanks Wayne, that's pretty much what I figured. It's not too much more to upgrade and as long as I'm building it, might as well do it right the first time. Same with the brakes too then.

Depends on the use and how much money you have to put into it.

I'd rather be out wheeling than waiting to save for parts that you probably don't "need".

If you have the money to throw at every little thing to make it as bulletproof as possible, why even ask?

Thanks 383, if I had the money I would be done with my build and it would have all the best parts on it. BUT, since I cant afford to build it with cheaper parts, break it, then wait and spend more money for a part which I should have bought in the first place...I will take my time and save for the parts I want. After all, it is perfectly drivable as it is right now so no rush. My goal for the moment is to have the front and rear axles and Offroad Design front coilover conversion on it by September.

Thanks Mudder, I would think the kit from Offroad Design is hi-steer? I am also looking into getting some billet aluminum brake mounts made for the front D60 so I can run those big brakes :)

I have heard good things about people just plating the stock knuckles. There was a guy on pirate a while ago who was talking about making a plating kit, not sure if he ever got around to it though

High steer with stock knuckles is bad new IME

If you want high steer I'd go to aftermarket knuckles or plate the stock ones.

ditto

look into the plating option,

cardboard, sizers, cut the plates, preheat knuckle in the oven, weld away

I bought the reids for my buggy, on my white truck 07 sas on 41" iroks ill be doing the plating.

Both are destined to be slammed into stationary objects, flogged, bound up and beaten:D

Thanks for the tips guys...good advice. I am either buying the Reid ones or I might get lucky and have some custom billet steel ones milled for me. Along with some billet aluminum brake mounts :)
