I was changing my 1310 yoke for a 1410 on my front d60 and the nut stripped out and now the first 4 threads are bad and the third thread is missing a piece:mad: . Can I run a thread chaser has this happened to anyone. I hope I dont have to change the pinion for that. Also if I can run a chaser does anyone know the size I need its on my burb.:doah:

I'm sure the threads on the pinion shaft are ok and that it's the threads in the nut that are bad. You should be installing a new nut anytime it comes off anyways so just replace the nut and use some locktite on it also.

I agree.

And to reiterate:

NEVER REUSE PINION NUTS!

 cool thanks guys anyone know where I can get a new nut autozone dont know chit.

Or try the dealer, you'd be surprised what things they do have and you wouldn't think they should keep on the shelf.

Clean up the thread on the pinion with a small triangular-profile file.

Use loctite.

I frequent one shop that slices a groove in the pinion thread with an angle grinder and peens the edge of the nut into it. I guess whatever works and doesn't create warranty comebacks. ;)
