Dana 60 question...

So getting ready to put the dana 60 front together. The only thing I do not have is a good dust plate??? I beleive that is what it is. It is a thinner tin piece that goes behind the brake rotor and covers the 2/3 of the rotor that is not covered by the caliper. Is that needed?

What exactly is it? The ones I have are all messed up, rusted and falling apart.


I beleive I have seen them left off.

It is not needed. It can trap small rocks and crap.
