dana 60 question

my dana 60 i had in my blazer i pulled out when i scrapped the blazer. anyway sitting in the driveway the axle rotated so the yoke was pointed down all my gear oil drained out the yoke. why did it all come out of there? is the seal bad or do they do that normally?

sounds like a bad seal, mine did the same thing before being rebuilt....I kept the pinion up so it didn't leak.

reg seals don't realy hold oil in under gravity pressure like that .

that was normal but to be safe I would change it if your realy not trusting it.
