I want to get a Dana 60 to put on my 82 GMC Jimmys front end.

I know I need a 60 off a chevy or gmc vehicle, so that the spring perchs are the same place, and that the differential will line up with transfer case.

If I get a 60 off a dually what modes do I need to do to make it work on the Jimmy. Can I use 3/4 ton rotors that came off a Dana 44? Different brake calipers than 1/2 ton? Backer plates?

What is reccommened gearing? 4.10, 4.56, 3.73?

What is a fair price? So far I gotten between $1000-$1800.

Whatever you do, don't buy a dually axle. The cost to convert it to SRW will kill you. Now if you want to run Hummer wheels then no problem. You cannot use D44 stuff on a D60.

Gearing will depend on what size tire you're running and what kind of driving you do.

Oh, pricing for a D60 SRW anywhere between 1000-1300 for a rebuildable axle and if a DRW then somewhere around 600-900 for a rebuildable axle.

Single Rear Wheel
Dual Rear Wheel
The DRW have the wheel mounting flange that sticks out past the lockout to space the front tire out to match the rear for a dually

unless of course your looking for a wider track width, but then youd have to address the rear.

I just coverted my srw d60 to a drw d60 so i could run stock hummers. If i could have done it again i would have found a dually 60 for cheap and invest all the money i saved on some 4 inch spacers and stock hummers for less then the price of a drw d60
