I have a leak in the inner axleshaft seal of my D60. Is there an easy way to replace it or am i going thru the pumpkin? If i have to go thru the pumpkin, will i destroy the gear set-up getting to it or will it go back together without having to check things like preload, backlash or whatever. And how hard is that to do in a driveway? Im trying to avoid having to pay someone else to replace it. it just got done not long ago and I'm guessing they didn't replace the seals when they replaced the gears. Thank you for your help!

It's got to all come out.

I've done them in the driveway several times, nothing on the gear set up will need re worked

Biggest thing is getting the carrier out as they can be really in there due to the pre load. Leave a chunk of cardboard or carpet under the carrier so you don't drop the carrier on the concrete

its a shitty job but can be done in your driveway. The carrier can be a real bitch to get in and out, that was my experience at least.
