DANA 60 ????????\'s

just a few quick questions...have access to a 60 that has no bearing caps, no ring and pinion and no shafts...

what would it cost me to put 35 spline shafts in it and can i do this without changing anything else?

do i need new bearing caps and what will they cost? do they come with the new ring and pinion?

<font color="green"> Full 35 spline would go for about $500-$600 with hubs. Don't know how much bearing caps cost but they will have to be matched to the housing, just like main caps in an engine. I'd think a machine shop could do it. </font color>

wow that much????? this "deal" isnt looking like that much of a deal now...is there any alternative? where can i get those axle shafts?

<font color="green"> You can get them from any of the major differential places, Drivetrain Direct, Randy's, etc. If the axle is a good deal I'd probably get it anyways and just hang on to it until tuou find some used shafts. You could probably get some standard shafts for less, but the when I priced out the 35 spline kit it was $339 with Hubs, and the inner shafts are usually around $100 each. </font color>

actually wants a trade of my 39.5 boggers with some 16.5x9.75 steelies...i think id be coming out on the short end if i gave up my boggers with 3/4 tread and my wheels for a dana 60 housing i have to put shafts and stuff in...

what do you guys think?

Now all you need is hubs /forums/images/icons/grin.gif I have a set of Warn 30 spliners that I may sell cheap, one of the dials has a cap that has a piece broken off, but I don't think that it would affect the operation of them. You won't have the full 35 spline set up, but you'll at least have a 60.</font color>

Just so you know the 79 shafts the inners are the neck down type. They are a little weaker then the 80 or 81 and up shafts.
