It all depends on how/what kind of wheeling you do .
A T/L WILL one wheel on you in a hurry - that being said if your off-road is mild sand , and/or slick mud than it will do fairly well . If you are going in the rocks ( or anything close to that type of wheeling ) than forget it .
Once a T/L starts to one wheel it will never be as aggressive agin until you install new clutches and friction disc's . T/L's are ment to be a VERY mild traction diff - they were not intended to for moderate usage.

i'd get a locker

My dana 60 had one in it when I got it and I was unsure about keeping it or going to a locker before I got it in the truck. I tested it by putting the truck in front wheel drive only and locking only one hub - it did not hold good enough to move the truck on level ground so I got a locker.

Just my 2 cents.

Trash locks are just that.....

Pretty much! Got one in my front end, it's pretty much an open diff now, there isn't much trac or lock left in her. If you got it free, it might be worth trying but anything other than slick mud will bias the tire with traction.....Good luck..
