Do all 1 ton Chevy pick ups have the dana 60? How many bolts does the dana 60 have? 10 or 14. I am going to look at this truck that they are selling, it is a 82 chevy 1 ton P/U 4x4. One more question can you convert a 2wd dana 60 to a 4x4? Is it worth buying a 2wd and if you can convert it to a dana 60 4x4? LEt me know, Thank you.

Your question is confusing at best. The rear axle will have 14 diff cover bolts, and 8 lug wheels (this is a GM axle not a dana 60). I am not sure what you mean by converting a 2wd D60. The D60 is a front axle in all but the older (before '73) GM applications.

What I mean is do all 1 ton Chevy P/U have a front dana 60? How many bolts does a front dana 60 have? Also, if I buy a front dana 60 2wd can I convert it to a 4x4? Is it worth doing?

1 ton = D60 so yes.
Check out the axle ID chart
From what I've heard it's not worth trying to convert a 2WD to 4WD. I'm sure others can give details why it's not feasible, but I do recall it's not worth the time or money that's involved.

All 1 ton 4x4 GM's will have a D60. A 2wd will only have a rear axle (I think I am still misreading your question).

The easy way to tell if it is a 60 is to look where the steering arm bolts to the Knuckle. A 60 will have 4 bolts in a square pattern.also look at the front housing at the 5 oclock position it will say 60

2wd's don't have solid front axles. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

I have heard of turning lead to gold, but never this before...
