So good morning so I’m building this 78K5 blazer with a 6.0 LS and 4l60 e and 241c I came across a Dana 60 just wondering of all you guys who has done the conversion to six lugs to fit my stock rims and disc brakes on this axle. What’s the best set up if it’s possible running 33x12.50x15 Thank you

Just something I picked up, deciding on whether I will use it or not just was kinda trying to get some info on it

I figured if I didn’t use it, I would sell it and pay for the upgrades. I need in the 12 Bolt that’s in my blazer now.

I get that, and if the price was good, it’s an investment

But I stand on that question. Why do you need it in the truck. What use that you’re doing warrants the change?

That Dana 60F bone stock will take those 33’s all day every day, for as long as you want to beat it. You’d probably rip the tires off the rims trying to break that 60.
OK, maybe I shouldn’t say that. But, bone stock that 60F is a beast in its own right. And the weight of it…

I’m running 42” Super Swampers, and spools, with more engine and gearing than I should be allowed to
I need the Dana 60F.

Some thing’s to consider

If you’re not going Offroad, 1/2 tone axles are more efficient and steer better
D60 will have to change out some steering components just because of length and such. Every d60 used I’ve seen needed something repaired, usually brakes and king pin

Personally, I think d60 trucks steer bad. Usually need hydro assist and such

First truck I blew up the cross pin in an ARB in a d44 on 37s before I went to a 60

Second truck on 37s I made a high pinion 44 and chromoly shafts. No 60 needed

First question i have is ? How do you know its a dana60 front and not a 3/4 ton 8 lug front . So many guys think 8 lug = 1ton until you find out the hard way .

Stock gm hub centric 6lug rims wont fit over the hub on dana 60 8 lug or aftermarket. Then your stock brakes are way to small to even think of fitting on dana 60 knuckles . I have NOT seen a 1/2ton conversion for brakes on 60 axle . Only 3/4ton .

As repeated many times no need for a 60 in your needs . Good quality ball joints / bearings and u-joints will be fine .

Save the 60 for later when you start braking stuff and want to upgrade . . . I still have my 1st 60 front . Under truck #4 now and no real mods done to it .

I have seen a guy with d60 front and d60 rear both running 6 lug rims.
I was told they were custom built. The funny thing is he was running 35" tires and he was always beating on the truck, never upgraded to bigger tires

stock gm type rims or aftermarket . i am assuming he wants to keep stock gm rims if he is going the way in his plan . yes aftermarket can fit the hub hole of a aftermarket 60 front hub .

I guess I don’t need a 60 but it’s an axle that I picked up which I know from using Dana‘s my whole driving life I’ve had very good luck with them just pretty much asked a question from people who knew what route did they go? Didn’t think I would be investigated for using a higher quality axle even though it’s not needed.

It’s not personal. We’ve been here so long we’ve seen people read the “I need a Dana 60” threads and throw tons of money at an axle for a truck that has Michelin highway tires on it.

As much as we enable, we also don’t want you to chase a rabbit down a hole if it’s not needed

All we’re saying is, if all you’re going to do is stay on the pavement, why invest the effort, time, and money for that matter, run what you have.
I’ve seen guys put 44” tires on half ton axles. As long as they keep of off the skinny pedal, never leave the pavement. Half ton stuff is OK, the wheel bearings still take beating, but, it does run and drive.

Well I have to change gearing on what I have and whatever I use I’m going to disc and was just seeing what hubs would be the best to use assuming not to much extra to use the Dana
