dana 70 rear disc

Noone makes a kit for the 70HD but you might want to try looking in the Vendor forum for weld on brackets.

Send Kert(cybrfire on CK5) at DIY4x.com a PM... He and I just disussed this and came up with a solution. I shoul dhave my brackets soon and will be taking pics and doing a small write-up... :thumb:

I have a D70HD from a dually with 14ff SRW hubs.

I'm interested in seeing this too. What calipers?

Could you expound on the solution, or is it a secret?:haha:

It's all top secret! Military classified. Etc.....

:haha: j/k

The D70hd from a dually had a span of 8 inches between the backing plate flange and rear hub surface since I went with 14ff SRW hubs to increase my width. That would be too big of a spacer to try and bridge the gap.

Distance I am talking about:

So the solution that Kert came up with was to make me a new backing pate flange and use normal 14ff brake brackets. I will be sliding on the new flanges and welding them in place. Then I can just bolt on the brake brackets and brakes like normal and I wont have to use spacers. I will be using normal front calipers and rotors like any other app. :D I will also be grinding down the old flange to eliminate it.. :thumb:

I've been thinking about using SRW hubs on my 70HD but was debating because I'll need a spacer to make up for the diff of the 2 styles of hubs. Haven't made up my mind yet, still thinking...

Spacer for you brakes? What about going the route I did and getting a new flange to weld on and then reuse your current disc brackets?

Well, my housing has been narrowed so my spacing from the flange to the wheel seal area is on 2.5". My disc set up uses D60 parts bolted to a new flange that's butt'd up and welded against/to the original flange. I'm still not sure about it but a small spacer & SRW hubs would allow me to make the overall WMS the same as my front.

It's funny, I narrowed it to equal SRW width and now I'm trying to get back out to dually width. again. :doah:  :rotfl:

LOL.. Make up your mind!

Tell me about it... :doah: All that work and then I decided to use unmod'd Hummers.

Yeah, D60 caliper brakets, rotors and calipers - looks pretty beefy mocked up. I'll post some pics after I finish assembling the axle. :wink1:
