Found a dana 70 rear for sale locally thinking of getting it for my truck, it came out of a 84 GM dually. Will it bolt right into my K5? Is it going to be to wide since its for a dually?

Was the truck a pick up or cab & chassis?

If a pick up then it will be extra wide, if c&c the it can be mod'd to work at standard width. Either way the shock mounts and spring perches will be wrong.

the ad claims it to be a direct bolt in.. I guess I will ask the guy seems he might have already converted them... thanks for the info..

those d70's have the same spring pad width as a 69-72 blazer rear end, but the shocks are wrong.

The cab-n-chassis duallies were 14bFF's, to the best of my knowledge. It's an odd axle -- it's a regular SRW axle, but with DRW hubs and the brake flanges scooted in to fit the deep drums.

ANYWAY, a D70 from a dually will (1) be wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide, and (2) will have the 1-ton spring perches, i.e. narrower, so you'd hafta cut and reweld them to fit onto a K5.

Unless you want a BIG project, find a 14bff from a 3/4 ton truck or Burb, which will drop in a lot easier.

From my experience, it's not a simple bolt-on/in On mine, the spring perches needed to be moved outward because it was from a 1-ton truck and they didn't line up with the 1/2 ton frame. Also, the wheel mounting surfaces were pretty wide because it's from a dually.... however running stock H1 wheels (that have similar backspacing as dually wheels) work great on this axle.
