Dana 80 front axle build.

Very impressive, and a darn nice job.........

But there are guys on here that would break it in two trips........

That thing was looking SWEET....until he showed the C's and knuckles. That axle probably now weighs about 1800 lbs just by itself. I totally dig the engineering and beef that went into it but damn, all that just for an occasional daily driver and tow rig? And what is up with those horrendous wheels :eek1:

That is some killer fab work, but the design of the C's and knuckles lost me. The C's are super beef, but why do they need to be so tall and kill ground clearance like that? The knuckles don't look nearly as strong as the rest of the build. Are those ballistic joints used for kingpins?

good build yes

but some stupid stuff there also.

he cant figure out the early death of a unit bearing when running tires that weigh 3x that of stock and also drw rims on the wrong way kicking them out for 1000x more leverage the wrong way. :doah:

everyone to there own but some people.

Definitely jealous of his ability to show off his skills and toys...but wouldn't a Ford D60 be easier and just as good :dunno:

A ford 60 would be easier but, he replace a 60 that was on there to begin with. The OP wanted to do something better and build something different. I have followed this build from the get go and have been impressed with his abilities all the way. Amazing fab skills through and through.

LT.

Not the first D80 built that's for sure. There was a 1st gen blazer close to 6 years ago now at least. Dude front and rear 80s, what a sweet build.

But aside, a super 60 would be stronger. The inner C and knuckles are way bigger on a super60. It's not really the ring gear that is usually the problem. For cool factor sure. But not the best choice. Imo.

See thought I'd build a D110 front with outters from a 20,000lb front drive off a bigrig.
