what is the front axle that chevy runs in its medium duty 4x4 work trucks.? the ones that kinda look like cxt or whatever there called. it looks pretty beefy and alot bigger then a d60.
thats actually a D70 high pinion, crazy huge brakes, and an 8 by huge lug pattern.
IIRC, there is no 4.56 available for the D80, which i would think is a major downfall. you can get 4.63, 5.13 and 5.38's for it, but thats about as deep as it goes.

I saw this, and thought it was kind of dumb, with the clearance thing you are going to be running huge tires so rockwells would work for you too. With the price of this thing you could have two steering rockwells with Detroits and one of them with lockouts. I guess the big disadvantage of rockwells would be the huge pinion that sticks out of the axle but I bet this axle weighs close to a disc braked rockwell and the rockwell has almost the same clearance as a 60 does. I think if I had that much money I would just dump them into rockwells, Of course I don't understand poeple who want an atlas over a doubler either so
