Have Dana Super 60/35 spline/4.88 ratio, under the front of a 2005 Ford F550.
Am going to put some kind of traction aid in it soon.
Most of it's miles are on the road doing deliveries, but in the winter it's main duty is off road hauling bales and feeding cows. Have several drivers of different mindsets and driving styles.
Had thought about a Detroit. But for the type of use I described, the guy at Randy's Ring & Pinion recommended a True-Trac, and an offroad shop suggested a Powr-lok. Both told me to steer clear of the Detroit.
I'm leaning towards the True-Trac.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance

Never used the Powerlock before, but have ran a True-trac and a full locker (not actually a Detroit but same operation). I was really happy with the True-trac and it had almost no feedback or caused weird driving characteristics like some limited slips or lockers caused. It wasn't great for harder trail riding (rocks, tires in the air, etc...) but no limited slip is, and doesn't sound like you will be in this type of situation. It always worked great in snow and mud.

Helical gear LSD's are awesome for dual purpose vehicles in a front differential application. I ran one in a D44 front and was very happy with it.

arb mabye if you want traction when you want it then regular stock open diff when you dont need it. :D

and you have them in order of weak to best for traction delivery to both tires.

trac loc

power loc

detroit

other being selectable locker ( like arb or ox lock )

i was going detroit rear and power loc front . but decided to go arb front and rear for highway and town driving open diffs and then full locked when needed.

i vote for a selectable locker...full on lockers can b a pain to steer @ speed...not sure how much more a lsd would help over ur opened diff to make it worth the price...
