Ok so I found a local guy selling these. I offered him 350 for the pair, is that reasonable? He came back with $425 but that sounds too high to me. I mainly just want the rear and will probably just clean up the front a bit and sell it if I get them. My question is the rear really a FF and is it the factory locker? Here is a link to pics

Can't tell if it has a locker from that pic but it does look like a FF. Although, I've never taken apart a SF, so I can't say for sure.

If the D44 has ALL new parts (ball joints, TREs, wheel bearings, u-joints, etc), the 14b has good drums and hubs and both axles are in good condition (not all rusted out) have a decent ratio (4.10 or better), then it might be worth $425. Even $350 is not really a "smokin' hot" deal. It's fair.

If you're going to have to drop a lot of money on parts, then the price starts dropping.

It is a 14FF and looks like an open carrier to me. They were not offered with a "factory locker" only a limited slip diff and that does not appear to be a posi-traction carrier

The gear ratio is 4.10, I just talked to my dad and he said he has a few trucks sitting around the farm that are one tons so I am going to go get a 14BFF for free hopefully and maybe if I am lucky a Dana 60!!!

I think even $350 is too much. Granted this is very lucky, I picked up a totalled but complete '74 3/4 w/a 44/14bolt and 4.10's for $100. If your dad has a "few" one tons you should share the wealth. Kevin

I dont know how many he thinks he has cuz he doesnt really know what hes talking about most of the time. But I know for sure hes got one with a blown 350 just sitting there. If he has more I post em up for sale haha. Maybe if you help me rebuild mine Ill let you have em for cheap. HAHA

Well, you're close enough anyways. Send me a PM if "a few" is really the case, maybe we can work something out. Thanks, Kevin

14FF out of a 3/4 ton is a direct bolt up if the axle comes out of a true 1 ton then you will need to move the spring perches out by a couple of inches. Still a much better deal than $350.

um I paid $800 for my d44/14b with 3.73s. did I get screwed?

oh yeah, a 350 crate motor, an sm465, an np205 and three driveshafts came with it.:D
