I just bougth this 84 Blazer. In changing the fluids, I saw the Dana 44 up front was packed with sand. Cleaned it out, replaced gasket, new fluid. Major leak. At first I thought it was at the bottom of the cover. But see it is at the rear, by the driveshaft/ujoints. Is there a seal here? I don not see one in any of my repair books.

yup what harley said,

also is your front axel stock? the one that originally came in the truck? if so it "should" be a 10-bolt

read a manual on changing the pinion seal, if you dont think it is for you dont try it as there as if you canscrew it up by not tourqing thing down enough or too much.

maybe inlist the help of a local member?
