anyone have a pre 1988 truck originally equipped with a SRW 14 bolt? Im thinking the only way im gonna get these SRW hubs for my D70HD is to see if i can still get them through the chevy parts counter. I dont have a part number, so if i could get a VIN to take with me i could make sure i get the right part. if someone could PM me a VIN it would be much appriciated. Hell i dunno if they are even still available, but this is holding up the rest of my work on the axle, so i gotta bite the bullet and buy em new if they still sell em. I cant find em anywhere at the local junkyards.

I would think you could buy a complete axle for what the dealer would want for the hubs. :dunno:

my problem is i cant find any. All the 14bff axles at the junkyards near me are from 2000 model year vehicles, maybe some mid 90's stuff, but nothing old enough for the hubs to work. the SRW hubs i have are from a 2000 and they dont work.

If the price is the same, it wont bust my balls too much, my mom would literally **** kittens if i had ANOTHER axle laying around the yard that i was trying to get rid of. Ive even decided not to pull the rare 9 bolt Australian rear axle out of my IROC that im trashing because its gonna be hard to sell it, and i cant have it laying around the yard. So yeah, even if they cost as much as an axle, im still paying the same ammount, not having another axle to get rid of, and will be able to move forward on the D70HD project. which hasnt moved forward in months.

I suppose i could do another run up to jersey, but finding the time these days is also a problem. Between the time off from work, fuel expenses, and cost for an axle in jersey, i could order the hubs from the chevy dealership next to where i work, and be done with it.

Funny how that works, you couldn't find a 14 bolt newer than about '85 around here if your life depended on it.

i should just change my sig to say "dagNABIT i love this forum." so it shows up in every post.
