i want to mount a battery here.

it will have a dash that shields most of it but not your feet.
i was thinking of fabing up somthing like this
Optima_Hold_Down-25-35-76LG.jpg

i plan on using a sealed battery (optima...ect.).
is this a bad idea? should i make a closed box instead?
or if you have any other ideas of how i should mount a battery there i would greatly appreciate it.

i ask because the last thing i need is hot battery acid on my girfriend's feet.

with the cage and propane theres no extra space.

DD or trail only? I would be hesitant to put it there if this is going to be used on the road. The right type of front end collision or side impact could jeopardizes the integrity of the battery case.

Trail only, your unlikely to have any issues.

Jeep put them there on M38A1's, they dropped in through the cowl. Its unusual but I don't think its unsafe. I'd look at mounting it to the cage when you get there. under a seat or between them maybe

its going to be driven on the streets rarely (to and from the trail). but it will probably get rolled. but under the seat is a good idea. i might do that instead. plus that will give me more room on the firewall to run my airfilter through(snorkle).
i know optimas are sealed but dont they have some pressure valves in them and if so how common is it for them to skeet out gel (or acid).

optimas use a gel, so no drip.
Actually, from what I was explained, they don't use gel. What they do is take fiberglass and wrap the plates in spirals, then the fiberglass soaks up the acid, and that is why they don't leak, and that is why they have 6 cylinder lookin things on the batt.
