How do you get the little light bulbs (like for your blinkers) out of the dash? I've crushed two already.

Push and turn, about a half turn.

I collect them at pick-n-pull. I have a drawer full.

I think every GM vehicle between 73 through 91 used them. I have hundreds.

What do you use to get at the bulbs? I can't get anything in there--the space is too small for my fingers.

Get them from the rear to take out then if your lucky the don't break from being old or over heated before they blew.

It is easiest to remove the gauge cluster THEN remove the bulbs.

If you don't want to take out the cluster.
You can take out the lower vent tube, and you can reach most of them from the back side. They sell just the bulb or the socket and bulb together at the auto parts store.

To make the guages appear brighter, do you use silver spray paint or white? I remember a thread from a long time ago on this.

silver/chrome ...pretty much the same thing

I think it was a chrome paint I used. Doing the headlight wiring up grade, taking the power for the headlights off the switch also seemed to help brighten the dash light even more.
