Dash cover mats are they any good?

I have a similar one maybe the same brand it's black just velco on, it's just cosmetic. It was good to hold me over until I replaced my dash. Fit well
I nave had a dash mat on my blazer for 25 years. The dash was new from GM and looks as new as it was at that point. No cracks anywhere.
I got a Carhartt cover from Cover Craft that I like.
Would the cover work without the velco?
I think with the one I have you would probably need some velcro. I think you could keep it in place with just a couple small pieces.
They all need Velco to stay in place. You can buy it in self stick.
