The "Gen 2" light will flicker on and off and the "water in engine" light flickers on and off also.

Day before neither light came on and then the next day they started flickering. Rev up a little and both lights go off. When it starts to idle down, both lights flicker just a bit.

Truck has brand new batteries, alternator and has been converted to 12V except for the starter which remains 24V.

What do I need to look for?

ONLY the dash lamps flicker ,and only those 2,not the cluster lights also??....could be bad grounds,or a feedback from the sending unit causing the water in fuel lamp to come on,but be sure there IS no water in the fuel first ,that'll just be normal operation if there is...the generator light might come on at idle if one of the three diodes in the diode trio fail,it'll still charge at higher speeds but not so well at idle with one or more dead diodes.................................................................................................Seeing the truck was 24V previously, its entirely possible the wiring might have been fudged up somewhere during the 12V conversion too,I'm not too familiar with the military wiring setup on 24V trucks...but I'd think copying the wiring from a 12V "civillian" truck should work OK....

I have the same exact issue with my gen 2 light. Still have the 24 v system. I think our best bet is to get on Steelsoldiers.com those gurus can tell both of us exactly what's going on in minutes. I bet there's already a thread on it there.

Right now it's on the bottom of my long priority list. Everything seems to be working and charging fine for now...

Put a voltmeter on it temporarily to watch what your voltages look like while it is flickering. Then go from there.

I figured out my flashing gen 2 light. My battery was not holding or taking a charge. Had it charged and tested at Autozone. When I put the meter on it, it reads 13 volts, assuming it was still good. But it was not... New Optimas are on their way:) :D

Have you tried to see if yours are holding Or taking a charge?
