Something else you could try is making your own lenses. Get clear plastic (lexan or acrylic), some vinyl letters/ symbol stencil sets (available at craft stores). Or print up your own on sticky back transparency film for stencils. Lay the stencils out on the clear plastic and spray paint it black. Remove the stencils and your left w/ a clear image in a black field. You can mount that where ever you want in your dash and put what ever colored LED light behind it.
Actually , I am thinking of making some, we just started getting into graphics with lexan and I am going to be checking into cost of producing these in a few ways, simple one would be die cut to fit either a round or square light and have lexan silk screened and use a clear 3M VHB adhesive, A peel and stick on application that you can choose what color light for teh symbol, what would be the top five symbols used (alt/Battery - Oil Pressure - Water Temp - Trans Oil - Head lights - Turn Signal Left / Right?
