I've got my cab fully stripped to include cutting the dash out. I still have about 1.5" to 2" of sheet metal sticking out from under the windshield gasket/weatherstrip.

I understand that this piece is tack-welded to the windshield frame portion of the cab.

Can I remove these tack welds and reinstall my windshield with a good tight proper fit with a new gasket?

Will the windshield still have adequate support if I do this?

I don't know if it's the same on yours but I tried to do that on a 78 Chevy k10 and there was like a million spot welds holding it it. I think it's 3 different sections all spot welded together to make the windshield frame.

I'd just trim it really close with a cut off wheel

yeah, not worth possibly breaking the windshield. Trim it up, bend it down, and be done. Is Kert's dash going in or something else?

Damn :(

I was hoping to just be able to fully remove it.

I was thinking of going with the aluminum dash from Kert but think I'm just gonna stuff some gauges and switches into a piece of sheet metal and mount it to the cage when I get to that point.

Windshield needs to be replaced anyway, was more so worried about the metal around it.
