True enough. I figure the speakers in it now are in very poor shape based on the life they have lived, new ones of those alone may solve the problem entirely. But will keep all info in mind. Thanks!

If you don't mind, please give us an update if you get some good dash speakers. I'm still throwing around ideas in my mind. Mine just had the single, mono dash speaker. I thought about adding some good 3.5's and also adding some 6's in the kick panels. I read where someone else put in some high-end 3.5's and was very satisfied with them, so I'm really curious about how good they could sound.

look at post #6 i have the 6 1/2 component speakers in the kick panels and component 4 x 10 in the factory spot in the rear and i have the high end Memphis audio 4" in the dash in the factory location as far as sound quality it is great the jl audio 400/3 amp pushes them great and you can't beat the clarion head unit.

I put Infinity 3.5's in the dash. Speakers fit, and the magnets were huge. I had to remove the brace through the dash pad grill on the passenger side, and the high tweeter still pokes up a little, but not bad.
How's the sound?
They scream. Just on deck power too, they are the reference series, so no real need for an amp. They even come wiht bass blockers(caps). I'm sure whatever midbass they could put out would be helped by some speaker baffles, but getting them in by themselves and not shorting to the dash already required me wrap the whole magnet/wire terminal assembly with electrical tape. Little stupid wires going to the tweeters were swinging around and hitting the dash metal.
Overall, the burb sounds good right now, and im just waiting for time to finsih putting the 6.5's in the doors.

When I get around to actually building my stereo up, I'm going to use an active crossover that I can adjust the bass cutoff with.
Glad to see it worked out well though.

Just to clarify here, the center speaker is indeed a 4 x 10", right? Not a 4 x 6" as some had mentioned previously.
rears are 4x10, yes
