How in the world do you get to the dash speaker in the middle? Ive looked through the glove box and under the dash. Do you have to pull the dash pad off?

Ah, haha I took my whole dash apart a few weeks ago to change the end dash speakers out...somehow I didnt realise there was one in the middle..dont I feel stupid.

Yup under the dash pad. Lots of screws and stuff to take out but it's really not that hard. Your gauge bezel screws abd the little ones right at the bottom of the pad where it bolts to the dash itself. You also have to get that one lone screw on the right side on the end of the dash pad. you won't see it with the door shut.
Not difficult just a pain sometimes and if it's not already cracked it probably will be after you're done with it

Not all of the trucks have the center speaker.
I think it was the older trucks only got the center speaker...or maybe only the lower end trucks got the center speaker? At any rate your '91 K5 probably never had it anyways.

Gotta take it off.
The reason I ask is because I have the doors and top off, which rocks
, but all I have for speakers are the ones in the back. And with boggers its hard to hear. So I thought I would put some small ones in the center dash spot so I could hear the radio. I dont know if there is one there now because its not hooked up, but there is a spot.
I had this same problem too. Get some component speakers and put the small subs in the back panel just behind the seatbelt retractor. Put the tweeters in the door about where the pockets are or in the A pillar. Use some decent dash speakers in the factory location and you will be happy with sound. It may not always be with true clarity but you will be able to tell what is on.

Yep, I've got 6x9's under the rear ashtrays. Helps a lot, but the threes in the dash keep the kids in the back from going deaf.

It looks like LMC's catalog site is down right now but they make a 4 x 10 replacement that has two tweeter/mid drivers built in so you can get stereo sound. Personally I'm going with a few of the other guys around here and mounting a CB speaker in the center and aftermarket 3.5's in the stock location.
LMC's center speaker dealie is pretty...crappy. Guy over on SteelSoldiers picked one up and laughed at how crappy it was. Said you can buy better junk at Walmart for $15.

Yeah it sounded too good to be true. Too bad, it's actually a really good idea. Especially if you coupled that with the factory 3.5's and some 6 x 9's under the rear ash trays. Tuck a sub away and you could actually have 5.1 surround sound.
It's unfortunate that the 4 x 10 has all but been phased out, so the selection is pretty minimal. From what I saw before there was the gimmick from LMC and then either the "Boss Audio" WalMart special or I think Pioneer and Kicker has one for around 100 bucks.
I'm debating whether to buy a regular 4 x 10 speaker to use with the CB or buy a real CB speaker and fab up a bracket for the stock location. I'm wondering if a 4 x 10 would even sound that good or get that loud...some of the CB setups we used to have when I worked road construction could be heard like 200 feet from the truck!
The guy on SS took the frame of the LMC unit and mounted two good 3.5's in it. I think if I ever got into it enough I'd do something like that only come up with the mounting bracket for the speakers myself. Maybe some 4" speakers instead though.
I think Infinity still makes a 4x10.

Eclipse made a 4x10 a few years ago. Bought one and loved it but even the best speakers don't know how to handle my volume knob
