Data log

Well, i'm back to my original #2 chip from Brian but i discovered today that he has deleted EGR function in that chip. I did pass my emission test today with pretty good results but i sure wish he had EGR function in that chip especially since i live in California and told him i need any and all emission stuff left operational. I'm going to e-mail him and see if he keeps a file of what is on the chip and if he does then i'll have him burn another chip but with EGR function.

So you passed Cali's "tough" emissions testing program with a non-functional EGR? Aren't they supposed to be looking for that to work right?

I know OBD1 isn't as easy for them as OBD2, but I'd think they would notice something like that!

Yes i passed the emissions test with a non working EGR system. When California went with the dyno testing they stopped checking for EGR functionality since now they are checking for NOx which is what EGR reduces. The only way a vehicle still needs to have the EGR checked for proper operation is if it is a fulltime 4 wheel drive and cannot be put on a dyno or if the vehicle is one of the vehicles that are too large for the dyno then they must check the EGR.

All in all i guess it's a good thing that i passed the testing without EGR function and had it worked the NOx would have been even less.

Kelvin, what's up buddy. I'll have to call you soon to talk to you about this wide band 02 sensor. I did have two extra 02 bungs welded into the exhaust system so i could use a WB sensor for tuning purposes. I still have a 408 area number for you, is that still a good number?

Yup, that number is still good.
