I've always been annoyed that you couldn't see the hi beam indicator during the day.
So all 3 of my Subs and K5 blazer had burned out dash bulbs, so I took an extra minute to modify the dark blue plastic cover that indicates when hi beams are on.
It's really simple after you've removed the dash cover. Just use a sharp pin or pointy sheet rock screw. Push thru the plastic lense whilst holding against a piece of wood. The lense is too flimsy to do it on the dash.
All you need is the smallest hole. Too much and it'll annoy you at nite.

I drive with my headlights / tail lights on all the time too, just second nature to pull the headlight knob out after I fire the truck up.

I personally found some little blue LEDs and put them into the hole on the gauge. Easy install, looks factory too. I had to look fairly hard to find LEDs that are dim enough not to annoy you at night, but bright enough to see during the day.

I like the LED idea but I can imagine just how bright that would be. You'd be blinding yourself and the other drivers! That chrome spray paint trick is pretty cool as well and highly recommended. I actually had to turn down my dash brightness.
