so on my DD a 2000 Hombre, I got into my truck today and turned the wipers on and they were fine, so I hit the washer switch and the wipers stopped and won't come back on, they stopped mid stroke as well.

Could this be a wiper motor pulse board problem? could it be a wiper motor? All the fuses I could find in the interior fuse panel are fine.

I'd suspect the switch first. Then maybe the board.
Most of those systems turn on the wipers when you press the wash button. The older systems used a cam to turn the wiper switch on when you pressed the button.

The newer ones fire a relay on the control board. That relay may be in parallel with the regular switch, or bypass it.

If it bypasses it, and the contacts are bad, it would cause what you have.

If you have a fuse for the wiper/washer system, try pulling it for a few minutes to clear the board, then put the fuse back in and use just the wiper switch to see if you can get them back working.

I'd say pull a battery cable, but that clears engine learning, radio settings, stuff you don't need to clear if you can help it.

The multi swich on the column right?

If that were bad wouldn't the blinkers not work either since they are all on the same multi switch?

I tried to change the pulse board tonight on the motor itself since it was the cheapest and easiest to do, but it still is not working. I think it may be the switch more and more because when it happened I had the wipers on and then hit the spray switch like i always have done to clear the morning frost off of the window. So maybe the switch gave out?

So i got the wipes to work. Im too dumb to find tbe fuse for them replaced it but i hit the mister again and the fuse instantly popped again. Any ideas

First, idea? You got a short in the mister..........

Next, well, it depends. Don't know the system on that model right off the top of my head, but I assume it uses a small pump motor in the washer tank.

Get some extra fuses, same size of course, and try unplugging the wires going to the pump motor.
Its not unheard of for the seal to fail and let the washer fluid fill up the motor.
If the fuse does not blow with the motor unplugged, I would strongly suspect the motor.

If it still blows, then you are down to looking for a pinched or frayed wire, a bad switch, or something on the board shorted.

But check the motor first.

I am assuming that it uses a motor. The old GMs had a solenoid on the wiper that engaged a pump run by the wiper motor.
If that were the case, I would unplug the solenoid. But I don't think anyone uses that anymore.

I unplugged the wiper pump tonight put a new 25amp fuse in and ****ing A it works again! So rather than swap out a 200+ dollar switch I'll swap the 16 dollar wiper washer pump!

All Right! Odds are its full of washer fluid. Check any O rings when you replace it. But most of the time all the seals that go bad are in the motor or are replaced with it.

This is one time, you are better off going new than junkyard. Used is likely to have worn seals.

What type of motor/pump setup is it? The ones I used to see leak had a motor with an impeller on the end that just slid into a hole in the bottom of the tank.

Inside the hole was a molded pump chamber that a rubber sleeve on the end of the motor sealed when it slid into place, and the impeller just stuck into the chamber.

Once the shaft seal went bad, it was just a matter of time.

switch it with a Circuit Breaker
