I have a 1994 jeep cherokee 4.0 4x4 as my DD. Ive been chasing a problem for some time now and just need some help. The problem only happens after driving for about 10 minutes. It begins to sputter and backfire ONLY between 1500-2000 RPMS. Anything below or above that range it operates normal. I have changed the TPS, MAP sensor, CPS, and a fuel pump. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

First thing I would do is check to see if any codes are stored then go from there. The TPS would have been my first thing to look at but you said you've replaced it already. My next check would be EGR valve and or solenoid.

No EGR. And no Check engine light or stored codes. Should have put that in my post. TPS was my bet too.

The older Renix style 4.0 had EGR but the H.O. doesnt have it. Could this be an ECM or Dizzy Problem?

I'm chasing the same thing on my K5. Hours of google led me to a thread somewhere. Guy changed every sensor he could find, problem didn't go away. On a last ditch effort he swapped the ECM, problem solved.

I've also read where some think a bad ignition control module can have this effect.

No idea on either one, but something to look into. Good luck.

It has been a long time ago, but it seems like if the distributor was a tooth off, they would run like that. I would check the distributor out really close.
