working on an 89 suburban and can't seem to get it running right. I had some vaccuum leaks which i have taken care of, i adjusted the timing, but it still seems like it's off a bit. i disconnected the connector on thefirewall and set the timing to zero, but it seems to have a dead spot just off idle like the timing is still off. did i do it wrong? when i connect the connector on the firewall behind/next to the brake booster and check the timing again, the timing mark is way off the timing scale/marks...(i think advanced-- toward the passenger side)... what gives, seems to run worse since i messed with it

Cant recall the color, but that sounds right. Whichever one i disconnected, it changes the timing when reconnected....
