Dear m1ndless, Just How Bad Do You Want To Play

To people that didn't see the thread(s), and can't, it seems like a thuggish response. I'd say more damage is being done to the CK5 community by the remnants lingering for all to see. Notice a lot of references to Pirate lately?

I would say that people who understand the way CK5 works will figure out that something pretty ugly went down. If this thread is enough to scare people off, then they probably don't belong on the internet in the first place. Let's face it- CK5 is VERY MILD compared to 80% of the offroad sites on the web, and one thread out of 100,000 does not define a site.

BTW, thanks for all the support, lads.:surepal: If you think you can do the job better than my counterparts and I, feel free to get ahold of Steve Fox and put your money where your mouth is. :deal:

You do a bang up jon can!

The people who saw what went on in the forums (lounge, and garage later) think this is well deserved, nevermind what went on behind the scenes... If you weren't there for it stfu and keep your opinions to yourself:wink1:

Personally I like the fact that if sh!t goes down, I can count on you guys to be there for me!

Keep up the good work boys!:D

Once you understand what happened, it kinda changes your point of view on this, doesn't it??? :thumb:

And to top it all off, if you knew what Steve Fox had to do to finally resolve this mess, you would most definitely be as pissed off as some of us. Trust me. :deal:

So what??????????????????????????

This is way tame compared to Pirate. With that being said, this place is not going down that road now or in the future. If it was, this thing would have gone way, way further than just what was done here. If a survey was done, the detractors, and let I conjure up the spirit of Z3PR because he was a classic case of this, are NOT regulars on PBB. Classic case of apples and oranges by folks who have no idea what they are talking about......................

In closing, I dare say those detractors are the same folks who GIVE ABSOLUTELY NOT ONE FLYING **** about someone who runs roughshod unchecked. It's like taking a knife to a gunfight and for me and some of the others who have been here for years, well, we do give a **** about this place and we're not going to stand idly by while some asshat ruins the place. Sure, there's a clique of us that don't come this part of the site all that often, but if you notice, it was some of us that came together and said "no more."

you guys who make comparisons to pirate ever really been there?

If ck5 was like pirate then we would have had seen this whole guys life posted up, Hell bubba was pritty mild here, a google earth shot shot of his town doesn't really mean much. A whole lot more could (or should) have been done for this guy. HE brought this on himself. HE asked for it! HE thought once he logged off he was untouchable that he was scott free, this thread is the little reminder that you are still acountable for your actions.

Imagin I walked up to a member of your family, (mother, sister, ect) and punched her in the face.

then ran home, well I am home now, does that make me scott free? As you pound on my door pissed off and the cop came by and said I don't know what happined and I don't give a ****, How would YOU feel?

These are my brothers, I'll stand by them.

Well I have to chime in! I agree 100% with what was done and I did see the crap this young man spewed! Unlike the feel good P.C. of today that is so prevalent in the news it was not OK. It is not that johnny was expressing himself it IS HE EXPRESSED HIM SELF IN CORRECTLY! :ignore:

I am not a part of the group but we as a people have bowed to the minority that needs to be understood to long. I do not give a rats butt if you never had a puppy growing up or that you got spanked for writing on the wall when you were little.
There are rules and regulations set forth and if you can't abide by them LEAVE!

Beyond that, there are socially acceptable ways to conduct oneself when in public.
EDIT

Just in case anyone hasn't visited Pirate in a while: (Click - Start Reading at Post 11) You'll understand the references. EDIT: For the record - this is not Pirate and it has not come close.

This is exactly why I love this site. WE ARE BROTHERS! There are times we fight, disagree, etc. In the end we always stand by each other, even thoigh 95% haven't even met. Many have said it, and it takes a while to truly understand and grasp it completly. This is an awesome community to be a part of, and I for one am privelaged and proud of what the brotherhood stands for and can accomplish :bow::bow:

My comments shouldn't be construed as a lack of support. I have no opinion as I have no knowledge of the events. Likely the response was justified. I just question the regular practise of 'heads on a stake'.

I'd like to consider myself a part of this community though I quite obviously don't belong to any of the cliques.

My comments were out of concern for the well being of the community. I'll keep them to myself from now on. Lest my head be mounted as well.

It slays me when people state that they have no opinion because they have no knowledge, yet multiple folks chime in on what they saw and it pretty well jives across the board.

Staking the heads to the ground to make them an example to others as to what not to do. Think William Wallace. The Brits need what they did for a reason and I'm sure it made some people think about their actions.

It's not hard, if you get off of your soap box and think about it for a second.

I've no opinion as to whether or not the sentence was justly ruled. As I said earlier, likely, it was fitting to ban the guy.

My concern is for the image that the aftermath gives US as a community.

As an example, Manny, had made a lot of friends here. I always thought the dude was a little off, that said, the level of crap dealt out during but especially after the incident could turn some of the membership off, and quite easily, any potential paying members sitting on the fence with their $25 in their fists.

There is a growing lack of patience for the newer guys, an obviously increase of hostility, and a general theme of US vs THEM; not exactly welcoming. What is this highschool?

In the interest of the collective, MY opinion is that these sort of clowns be dealt with swiftly, silently, and by the Mods, not the self elected Sheriff(s).

Just so you know, this action was condoned by the management of CK5, and like I've said, OVER AND OVER, if you knew the whole story, none of this would upset you in the least.

FWIW, the true story is getting out. Eventually you're gonna hear the "why", and maybe then you'll get it. Trust me guys, this was a BIG one. Unfortunately, some of you seem to think that we would go to this level just for fun.......:surepal:

I have a pretty good handle of what kind of person you are. And you have my trust and respect. As for some of the rest of the guys...."fun" would probably sum it up nicely.

Nevertheless, I stand by the 'heads on a spike' analogy.

At any rate, I've put in my two cents I'm not trying for another pissing match.

Enough 'bans' are done quietly, including Z3PR and Timmay. There was very little aftermath to either of those guys because it wasn't needed...the ban was enough.

Others have this 'rampage' mentality where they realize they're gonna get banned (or decide they no longer care if they get banned) and decide to try and wreak as much havoc as possible first. Then there is a small sub-group of rampagers who decide to come back with new accounts, fake email addy's etc etc ad nauseum to create even more chaos. An IP ban sounds oh so scary until you realize in today's world it's pretty much futile. People use multiple computers from multiple locales, and most ISP's assign the same IP to multiple accounts. Ban one IP and we likely have 2, 3, or dozens of innocent users that no longer have site access.

Even doing a search on m1ndless will only get you 10% of what had gone on. That search would not bring up any of the posts that were deleted. That search would also not bring up any of the 30-40 posts he made with new accounts. That search would also not bring up the 8 or 9 accounts I managed to ban while he was waiting for email activation. One single user all on his own has caused Steve to have to change the site software so that all new users are manually activated...

That my friends and brothers is why we have not seen anything this past week and weekend...it's not that this clown has gone away.

I'm tired of the insinuation of what he may have done. Counting on your imagination to fill in the blanks has still left some people thinking we're being a bit draconian. There is the story, and I have left a few small things out...

Paul and I have spent nearly 20 hours combined dealing with this asshat before Steve changed the site to manual activation. I lost count of the number of accounts we banned between us.

This is a great community, and I'm proud to not only be part of it but also to be a part of keeping it running smoothly. I willingly spend the hours to do so when needed, but a case like this is above and beyond what anybody should have to deal with. Don't forget this is a volunteer gig for all of us, and we do have lives. For what it's worth Manny adopted the 'nothing to lose' mentality and took it so far beyond the line most of the offending crap needed to be deleted. To leave these kinds of posts up would really be a detriment to the site...which means that sometimes you guys just need to trust we have your best interests at heart as well as the sites best interest.

Rene
