A couple of weeks ago comming home from Rausch Creek my wife hit a road with the K5 and said it felt like it went into death wobble. Not bad but noticeable. Well today I was driving back from the muffler shop and had it happen to me. It only happens on a really rutted road where it seems like the tire is trying to climb up the rutt and goes into death wobble. Once again it wasn't bad but noticable. It is kinda funny that I have it because I just redid some of the front suspension and the bushings are new in the springs plus I have hydro assist. I changed shackle angle and went to a longer shackle and different shock location. The springs and bushings in the D60 are about 2 years old with about 2000 miles on them. I am going to shim the springs to see what that does but eventually I want to change to shimmed steering arms and get rid of the springs. I am thinking that with how soft the front is I might not get rid of it unless I do a track bar set up. I'll keep this updated as time goes on.

I'd bet if your springs are soft enough you're getting lateral movement of the axle itself...

Perhaps longer shackles has pushed your pinion angle down. Try shimming it back to stock.

Thats called caster angle at the wheels isnt it?

That didn't change. I moved the upper rear mount on the frame.

I'll likely go with one of those kits...

I looked at that but don't think it will work for me unless there is a different axle mount. My shock will be in the way. This is a pic of the driver side but the passenger side is the same. I would need it to mount to the u bolt at the spring.

If you're running longer shackles...are they cross tied? That should help lessen the problem I'd think.

As for the panhard set-up you could always come up with something of your own that would work on your truck.

No, they are not crosstied. That is a good idea and worth giving a shot. I just don't want to do a panhard set-up if I don't have to. That will be my last resort which as my luck goes, it's what I will wind up doing to fix it.:doah:

I had my DW come back last year after a week of trail riding and come to find out my steering box had 3 of the 4 bolts back out 2-3 threads each. :eek1:

that might be my issue as well, im hoping the hydro-assist fixes it. ill find out sometime this week. if not ill probably end up gettin that trac bar setup

Steering box bolts, sector shaft bolts, check pitman arm nut every other trip.

Check you steering arm springs again and shim with flat washers. I was getting sick of DW so I got some new iroks and threw a few flat washers under each arm and all is better. And yes this was with hydro assist.

Can you use cross-tied shackles on the front? Won't they hit the frame?

Is Dcubb still building those? I remember reading someplace that he was non-responsive to several recent build requests. :dunno:

I hope he is still making them. I'd like to have the chance to pick up one of those setups next time the money fairy visits. :D

I don't know if he is building them or not but it will not work on mine. If I need a set up like Dcubb makes I will have to build it myself and it will have to disconnect for wheeling.

I am going to cross tie the shackles with some 1/4" plate on the front side and see what that does. It will hit the frame under compression if I try to center the cross tie or put anything on the back side.

Ok, I used some 1/4"x2" flat stock and cross tied the shackles. I haven't driven it yet so I will update later. I also looked the front over and found everything to be ok and tight.
