death wobble

Just slip 2 under each king pin cap and call me in the morning

Post your phone number, `cause I put 2 shims in when I built it.....

Even the housing was blasted, new shock mounts and all. I had read up quite a bit when doin the 60 and left nothing untouched. Ran for about 2k without a stabilizer on 36" TSL/SX's...

WHAM,,, came out of no where. I thought for sure a new part failed. Tore it down, checked everything and couldn't find an ounce of trouble. I was turning the rag joint by hand and noticed the pitman shaft had a fair amount of play (new box). Took it out, tightened it up a lil more than specs and poof... the dw was gone.

I have the 10 bolt but still have the samr issue. new parts ...drive a while and outa nowhere death wobble. Steering stabilizers have masked the problem but it is still there trying to happen. I too have a "new" reman power steering box and it is the only source or play in the system. What can I do to the factory style box to tighten it up? Already tried adjusting it but there is play on the input shaft.

Your sector shaft should have zero play. It sounds like the box is trash.

Have you checked all the TRE'S and ball joints?

I had the same issue everyone here has had or still has. My DW came whenever it wanted to. I replaced the steering box just because it was leaking so much oil, DW still there. Replaced the knuckle to knuckle tie rods, still there. I installed some Rancho 9000's and dual stabilizer that I had lying around for my 8" lift, DW GONE. I don't think there is one solution for our DW, each one is different and unique. Just thought I would put my 2 cents worth. This was on my 1980 GMC Jimmy w/10bolt.
Also my springs are pretty worn out too.

i had the same problem at speeds over 5o mph. i put new rancho 9000 shock all the way around and got the tires balanced. and the last thing was the tire psi. if the psi is low, it will magnify any other problem you might have. good luck

on our 06 f350drw superduty 4x4 6.0l psd work truck we put a leveling kit on it and it would almost shake the truck apart put a skyjacker dual stabilizer on and the death wobble is 95% gone i know it is a different setup but same problem
