So this afternoon I was driving home from work and camp across a 88 K30 3+3. So I checked it out. Not bad for an x-farm truck. It's got the usual K30 stuff ie D60/14FF TH400 NP205, crappy 6.2L. Interior is not bad either. Oh it as 79,XXX miles on it too.

What I was wondering is if I should buy it or not. The owner wants 1,500 for it. All I really want is the D60 for my Crew Cab/Senior Project Build. Didn't take any pics of it but it isn't pretty but definitly solid (thank God for Comiefornia weather ha ha).

Also what could I get for it if i part the rest of the truck out. I know I couldn't give the 6.2L Diesel away, but for the tranny/t-case and what not. Would $800 be out of the question given that I put a D44 under it?

Thanks

Jake

If you buy it and swap the front axle and then resell it you'll end up with a D60 really cheap. You should be able to get at least 1000.00 for a running 4x4 i would think. The engine and trans alone are worth probably 500-600 and then there's the rest of the truck that goes with it.

If it was here in CO, I'd have bought that thing before you could blink.

The 6.2 isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It's not super powerful but it can move the truck around ok and its efficient.

Put an 8 lug D44 under it and list it for $1500 (if you don't need the money tomorrow). It wouldn't surprise me if you got more than $1K for a 3/4 ton 4x4 in good shape.

I didn't think I could get that much from the tranny/t-case combo. I was thinking more like 400. Anyways thanks. I will more then likely get it. Just wasn't budgeting 1500 right now. lol. Worse case I could sell the D60 and make back what I spent ha ha

wheres it at? I'll go buy it right now... hahaha
Hickman thats only 10 minutes from me!

personally id take a 6.2L over a smallblock anyday of the week, and even for a big block to take preference it would have to be modded.

Im even planning to drop a 6.5TD backed with an NV3500 into a 65 chevelle someday :)

especially in california, where biodiesel is in vogue, a 6.2L would probably be attractive to someone for a swap.
