Since my shop has been notoriously slow in getting my gears installed, I have been looking at all the crap the previous owner installed. I am having a difficult time figuring out which lift kit was installed. He told me it was a 6" lift, but is looking more like a 4", based on the what will my truck look like on xx lift thread. The truck did come with a spiffy rough country banner on the front glass though (if thats what is installed, it lives up to its name lol)

I measured the lift blocks on the rear, and they measure about 4.125" +/- .03" on the back side. I think there is a zero rate in the pack, but it is less than .5" thick.

The front spring packs are new as they still had plastic on them when I got it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated my friends.

Look for part numbers on the spring pack, cross reference on google, also pics are good

The front spring pack has 8015 painted on it which seems to be rough country 6" springs. The rears are factory judging by patina.

So I guess its time to call ord and do some ordering...

the 4" block in the rear would have me thinking it's a 6" lift
I know how weird that sounds... lol

I wanna picture!

some of those 6" kits were a 4" lift block with a leaf right? Been awhile since I've see one.....

Definitely see a rear add a leaf in there, in addition to the blocks

next to last is add-a-leaf from a lift kit

last is the stock packs overload leaf .

I see they cheeted and used a spacers between the frame and crossmember to drop the t-case down . put this back stock and save the frame rails and get a c/v drive shaft for the rear . with 6" lift on a blazer its a requirement for good ride at speed.

if you want a much better ride sell that kit . . . and get atleast a tuff country .

and if you do I would go 4" front and a zero rate for 5" total . then new rear springs and a flip kit with zero rate . or a set of lift springs and zero rate . then do a 1" body lift with new poly body bushings .

this will get you the same hight but better ride and flex .

I removed a 6" all spring rough country for a guy last year . we did the tuff country 4" and zero rate in front and stock 56" rears 22-547 part# springs = 2600lb packs .

he LOVES the new ride quality . this was on a k30 truck .

When you say get a cv drive shaft, I'm assuming you mean something like the front driveshaft? Which would require an sye kit?

they make c/v rears for slip yoke . but there not the best .

and 4"-up on blazers tend to = c/v shafts for best ride . so your 6" lift will prob need it .

and the t-case drop kind of helps bandaid the rear but kills the front angles .

My 78 has rough country. Looks like the same exact springs and blocks. I've ridden in lumber wagons that rode better.

So after some thinking about the subject, I'm considering taking it down to a 4" lift.... How much would I have to trim the fenders for clearance?

Assuming about 4.25" backspacing, for street use you will get minor rubbing when turning and hitting bumps like when entering a driveway. I had the same tire size and lift and I trimmed the inner corners of the front fender (both front and rear of it) and it solved the rub. You don't even see it unless you take a good look. You may not even need to, depends on the true tire size, backspacing and what not. Slap them on and see how it works for you.

Yeah I'm not too terribly worried about cutting on some rusty, holy fenders...
Told a co worker the other day, the fenders are they only thing that ain't goin' to hell lol...

if your dropping lift height stay away from rough country if you want the better ride than you have now.

and possible drive shaft rework if they were modified for the 6" lift .
