Decision Time! My humble build! "Flexed" it, 5/21/09!

You are the man! I did remember the tattoo too! Bill and I should be out there Sat. before lunch time. I have a dinner date at a friend's place at 4pm, so we can't stay too long, but I would like to stay long enough to see the start of some of your projects! See you then, and thanks again for all your help!

465 is installed.

Got the 465 installed today! It was a bitch to line things up using a tranny adapter on my floor jack, but I got it done. If all goes well, tomorrow I will get the 205 installed and maybe even the drive shafts. The 205 is on the jack waiting for me after work. Then I can work on the angles and get the axles finalized!

T-case is in!

I got the transfercase installed today. It was another bitch trying to get it all lined up by myself with a floorjack and transmission adapter. IT's kind of wobbly. Finally got it though. Crawling around in the mud made it alot of fun too. Tomorrow I'm off to Sweetk30's to pick up clutch pedals and floor boot. He's quite the generous guy. Lots of tips and info too!

Sunday, I will put new u-joints in my drive shafts, install them, and adjust my angles. If time allows, I will remove my sway bar, old shocks that have been hanging, my TV cable, and hopefully the rear drums. All this in preparation for the possible delivery from ORD. I should see my crossover, steering brace, and extended brake lines on Monday, according to UPS tracking.

I'm psyched!! All new stuff for me to learn on!!

Sorry, no pics, the camera does not want to interface with my computer right now.
LATER!

It's later, and now my camera works! Transfercase is in!

My aching a$$, pedals are in!!

That is a pretty set of twins, isn't it:D

I got a little done today too! Actually, I got my a$$ kicked today installing those pedals.

I've never pulled a steering column before. Lots of stuff to hook back up when I'm done. I have one plug left, can't find where it came from. Got tired and decided to quit before I broke something:o. Had to pull the brake booster to get the new pedals in. Fought like hell getting the bracket in place. Had to take things apart 3 times to get the wire harness in the right way, so they wouldn't get torn when pushing the clutch or brake. Tomorrow, I will finish under the dash, then I will get the Z-bar in and try to drill only 1 hole for the push rod. My '88 had dimples in the floor where the rod went through, but not this '89.:dunno:

I'm heading for the shower to wash all the blood from my hands. All sorts of room to work under the dash, lots of sharp edges everywhere too.

I need a nap and my sippy cup! Being a contortionist for 4 hours hurts!

BUT...the pedals are in!!:saweet:

Brown came with some ORD stuff!!

I love coming home to new stuff. Bob, my personal UPS delivery guy, paid me a visit while I was out fishing this afternoon. I got my shocks, extended brake lines, steering box brace, and my Furd shock towers. I'm quite excited!!:saweet::woot::saweet::woot:

Still to come is my crossover steering and short lines for my rear disc conversion.

I'm starting to compile quite a pile of stuff. Now if the weather would break. We are supposed to get a winter storm for the next few days. Not much progress on the horizon, but I can still look at my new parts.

Here they are:D

I did ask for two, but that is testing things. BTW what makes you think she has any interest in riding with me.:o She even drives separate if we go to my mom's, which is an hour and fifteen minutes away. For some unexplained reason, my driving scares her.:dunno:

dont know if its your driving but you do look scary. :haha::doah::D

I never did win any of the beauty contests I was in. All I did was piss off my wife for stretching out the leg holes in her good panties.:yikes::haha:

Clutch linkage is in!

I got my butt kicked today! Installing the clutch linkage beat me up. I think I put about 5 miles of going under truck, wedge head between headers, axle, and oil pan, get back in the cab, climb under again, crawl into engine compartment and back again. I did finally get it in and adjusted. I still need to install the return springs.

Sorry, no pics today.

My next project is probably the rear disc conversion. I gotta do some reading on it. Never have taken apart my rear brakes on the 14ff. Aside from the drivetrain swap, this may be the first major upgrade I'll do by myself! :saweet::woot:

After that, I'm thinking crossover steering.

I'm happy to be making some progress.:D

Got a little more done today. Finished adjusting the clutch linkage. Got the return springs on too. Installed the hump with SS nuts and bolts. Used hi-temp silicone to seal it. Did some custom bending with a pipe wrench on the shifter to keep my knuckles off the dash during my 1 to 2 shift. I do need a larger boot for the transfercase shifter. I had to do a little adjustment on the opening:hack:!

I also removed all the shocks and sway bar in preparation for the Ford towers up front, and the crossover steering.

I did butch the hole in the floor for the pushrod.:doah: I'll have to custom make some kind of a boot for that too!

i dont know what everyone else does but i reinstall the hardware on the crossmember from the sway bar brackets. as some sandwich the other stuff. help keep it stiffer i think.

Do you mean the brackets the sway bar hangs from. Right next to the front body mount?

yep ditch all sway bar stuff and then run the bolts back in i think its 2 of them. and this will sandwich it back together. i will look later and check.
