Ok, so I have been an avid lovers of K5 Blazers since I first rode in my Uncles back in the mid 1980s. I purchase a 1973 blazer about 5 years ago and about 1.5 yrs ago i grenaded the rear then front end within a month of each other so i decided to upgrade the axles to 3/4 tons. Well abotu this time i was finishing up my Master's degree and i did not have the free time necessary to work on my blazer. Then I came ot the conclusion that if im going to spend time and money upgrading to 3/4T i might as well do it right the first time and just get 1T axles. Around this time I cam across a Suburban for sale by one of the members of this site that was loaded with 1T axles, disc break conversion on the rear and cross over steering. With such a complete rig and a decent price I jumped at the opportunity and purchased the burb. Unfortunately I still have the desire to have a full conv. Blazer and I am debating swapping all the parts axles and steering components between the burb and blazer and keep the blazer and resell the burb or just selling the blazer and keeping finished suburban. I know have the time to do either project just wanted some input. Any input would help.

How many people wheel with you when you go? Do you have a family that rides along....

Your K5 is smog exempt, I would do a 1 ton swap. BUT, if you keep the burb I would bob it, they have too much over hang. A caged, 1 ton, smog free convertable is bad ass, Hence the reason Im building one :D.

Yeah, im a single guy w/no family so space definitely isnt a priority and teh smog exemption is also a wonderful point which actually is making this decision kind of a no brainer. But that brings me to another question do i swap the fuel injection and the 40gallon fuel tank also?

I'd keep the 'burb and put 3/4 tons on it and make it a mall crawler :D I'll admit that's what I'm doing to mine since the most off road it sees is dirt roads.

I love mine, but then again I have other hobbies that it fits with perfectly(Shooting and camping both require space).

I got a burb but wish i would have started with a blazer but then again i roll all kinds of heads also seams the more room you have the more that want a ride.I probably wont get a blazer but i keep looking got alot of time and so forth invested in the burb and it is just plain different blazers are a dime a dozen.
resale alot higher on the blazer as well
