Ok so I have a 73 k5 blazer that i blew up the rear axle, replaced it then a wk later blew up the front axle. I then purchased a set of 3/4 ton axles and a 205 for $500. Unfortunately i havent had a chance over the last 6 months to go through the axles and and put them on my blazer. I have also been looking for a dana 60 to put up front and not waste my time wiht the 8lug dana 44. Now comes the problem, i just saw a 82 1ton CC up for sale only asking $2200. I am buying this truck if not just for the drive train but possibly building up the CC ditching the bed, moving the rear axle forward as much as possible w/o smacking the body while in flex and making a super simple and clean flat bed. If i did this i would end up selling my blazer and the 3/4 ton drive train. Any opinions on this or advice. also this will be mostly used on trails but need to keep it street legal.

I had some thoughts along the same line. Before I built my Jimmy, I was seriously considering getting a 1 ton crew cab since that'd already have all the right parts in it! I would've cut it down and flatbedded it kinda like ORD's Cousin Wally. To me, the decision was made by virtue of what trails it'll see. The trails around here are mostly Jeep trails, tight and twisty so, the Jimmy's shorter length definitely was the way to go for me! So, I guess my advice would be: look at the trails you plan on running, it may make the the decision for ya!
Oh, BTW, don't forget the crewcab won't have a fully removable top like your 73 Blazer! ;)

As cool as the CC would be , i have to concur with Blowedupmotor87.
Going topless is so nice in the Spring time.

Buy the 1 ton. Drop the axles under your truck. Part out the rest of the one ton and your axles you just bought.

Thanks guys i appreciate the advice. Driving home from work today on a nice sunny so cal day i was thinking i wish i had my blazer right now. Also i know alot of my trips would be up in the local mountain were my buddy has a cabin so smaller mroe "agile" blazer would be nice.
