Well i got to a point in my build that i hoped i wouldnt have to deal with:o the 14 bolts tubes are not wide enough to fit leaves because of the frame width. i have 2 options. 1 is link it and coilovers. 2 is wider axles.

1. Link the back
sell flip, brackets, 63" springs to make prolly 175 back.
axle brackets, links, crossmember, axle truss (for upper links) will need to be fabbed. I can tack all this together and have someone else fully weld it for me as i dont trust my ablitities on suspension components.
questions- good link joints?
what size dom for links?
what style 4 link, triangulated, double triangulated etc? (im about to go re read baddogs 4 link thread)
Its planned as an on/ offfroad rig. it will mostly be driven to the trails but evry now and then ill take it out on the street. Going this route i wont have to buy a new axle, a locker or re gear. that should save some $ and make up for the initial investment Oh yeah, plus the cool factor:rolleyes::D

2. 63" Leaves
new 63" springs (mine are shot)
new shackles
new axle (either a 70, van 14, or newer 14 bolt)
regear axle (which would cost money cause id want it done right)
weld new spring perches
and custom shackle flip (wine will work but suspension would bind)
traction bars cause we all know the kind of wrap you can get with these springs

i already know the pros and cons of the systems (or at least most of em) what would you guys do? i dont think sticking with leaves is gonna be that cheap and a 4 link prolly wont cost that much more or am i just going into this with blinders on?

so what do you guys think?

I voted to link the hell out of it!

I went with long Alcan leaf packs front and rear because they where on the simple end of the scale and I knew they would work great!

Before I made the decision to stay with a stock style set up I ran down a list in my head that went like this:

1. Can you , at your current fabrication skill level , make a super flexy and safe on and off-road suspension.... answer....no... strike 1!

2. Do you have the proper tools (scales&engineering degree.etc..) to design a suspension....answer....no....strike 2!

3.Do I need a truck that ramps 1100....answer...no....STRIKE...3!

Your truck would be sweet with a 4 link and a set of air shox or Fox c-overs,
so if you have the skills , the tools , and the need I would go for it!

Maybe I will copy your set-up :D .

Good luck, Jeff
