hey all!

I was wondering is there an easy way to decode the RPO codes on the glove box of my blazer? I saw the list on this site but I am not sure how to read it. I would love to tell the axle code and all the other options this truck came with along wit the original paint combination. I think that it was a black with silver lower panel two tone ( verses the two tone with the strip in the middle of the body panels).

also what was the standard axle ratio for a 350 TBI $WD blazer in 1988? did these trucks have a Posi option and if so are there front and rear posi units? or are the fronts always open.

from what I can find out it is a Silverado with a main paint color of black.

I can upload the pic of the RPO sticker if that would help. but any list of 1988 codes would be awesome.

also can a chevy dealer decode it also? I seem to remember that they can.

thanks

john

Here is the RPO sheet. Any help deciding even just the Paint combo would be great.

Thanks!

John

G80 is limited slip, you have that one. Gm RPO codes should be a simple Google search. They were common across years so you don't need a specific 1988 list.

With the exception of some special military models, these trucks never had a front post of any kind. As HankScorpio stated, you have a rear locking differential (note; they can be delicate).

Some of the RPO codes are different based on car or truck, or year. Many of the RPO codes probably cross, but if possible it's going to be best to use the list that is the same vintage as your truck.

Bit of work, but I believe it's the parts manual that has the RPO codes up front, and it's probably available to download here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showpost.php?p=5621043&postcount=1

Yeah the 10bolt g80 is under size for heavy full sized SUV.
C60 is the AC
Jb5 is the brakes
19k should be trim color, list I found didn't have
19u is primary color, but more info is needed

Yes I think the differentials are small for this beast. Locking diff is great! Was hoping for that. Can those larger 3/4 ton and one ton axles from the C/K pickups fit under this truck? I assume drive shaft changes with those larger rear ends

The 3/4 and 1 ton axles bolt right in. You can get a conversion u-joint for the driveshaft and in a lot of cases the driveshaft will still work. All the info is here, search the forums and get your wallet ready!

C60 is Air Conditioning
GU6 is 3.42 gears
G80 is Positraction
JB5 is for your brakes
KC4 is Engine Oil Cooler
LO5 is 350 TBI
MXO is overdrive automatic transmission (yours will be a 4L60/TH700R4)
N67 is Rally Wheels
V22 is Deluxe Grille (included with YE9)
YE9 is Silverado trim level

Those are off the top of my head, I can look up more if you want.

Martin that is awesome!! Yes please I would like to know them all so we can put this back to normal as much as possible. Where else could I find the codes?!

The 3/4 and 1 ton axles bolt right in.
Not quite true. You can bolt in a 3/4-ton rear from the same era truck. The 1-ton rear is setup for a different frame width, so the spring pads have to be moved. Otherwise, the 14BFF axles in 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks are the same (although there are some different brake options). The fronts all bolt up the same, but a 1-ton front from a DRW vehicle is setup with different spacers. It can be converted if you can find the parts. The 3/4-ton front (10B or D44) is the same as the 1/2-ton front, but with different hubs/rotors to be 8-lug instead of 6.

Wish someone would make this wheel in 17" 8x6.5 8 to 10" wide.
Probably my favorite wheel for these trucks
The Detroit Steel Wheels Delray is similar to a rally, but only comes in 18, 20, and 22.

maybe it's the picture, or they need 37+ tires, but those arn't doing it for me. Thanks for pointing them out thou

Agreed, they're too large imo. 17s would be a nice modern upgrade from classic 15" rallies, but I haven't seen any on the market.

OK, I did a little more digging and will derail this thread just one more time.

These are 18s, not bad.

Richard Petty has 18s on his K5 also

These 20s are a bit much for my taste

Ew. The center caps are way too small for the diameter of the wheel and the lack of dish makes them stick out like a sore thumb.

Not my favorite, but passable. Might be 20s and/or 22s
