I was wondering if there is a sticky thread somewhere that breaks down all the codes? i.e. 700r4= np241=. If there is I couldn't find it. Thanks

700r-4 = Turbo-Hydramatic/4 spd.
np241 = New Process model 241.

something like that?

Well, looking for a thread that may decifer the different options of certain years. What gear ratio's with manual or auto. What years with autos had over drive, That kind of thing.

The GrimJeeper calculator is GONE!!! I was going to link to it because it has the info MtnJimmy's looking for. Kinda, at least with the ratios n stuff.

There are a lot of different "codes" out there. Each year GM had axle codes that were actually on the axle...and they weren't always the same. Some RPO's mean different things if they are car or truck, or year. (G80)

The dealer brochures on Dremu's site is about as close as you'll come to what combinations were available. Later on there were not very many drivetrain combos offered each year.
