I'm in the planning stages of my rear narrowing project which I hope to tackle this weekend. I intend to taper the rear anywhere from 9"-14" per side but I'm having trouble deciding how much.

I'd like to be able to put a 44" tire through the gap without too much trouble (don't ask) and that would limit me to ~ 10.5" per side. I'd also like it to look pretty good and with a K5 that means a little wider. With a longbed pickup I think I could get away with much more but a K5's bed is pretty short and would look pretty goofy if taken too far. This is a shot of the rear of Sandman's rig that's been narrowed 9.5" per side.

BUT, I'd also like the body to be out of the way of trees, misc. junk, and general obstacles. While I think anything around 10" would be fine, more is always better right? :D This is a shot of MNordby's rig that has 14" taken off each corner. I like the look but it's a full pickup bed and not a wimpy K5 one. Also, with a full toolbox and a spare, bed space in my shorty is scarce but I doubt you'd ever contact much with the bedsides on this rig. (BTW, thanks for the pictures you sent me Matt)
