NOT FOR SALE OR TRADE. Took it for a long ride today down the interstate, country roads, and through the city and I just don't want to let it go. It drives too good to let it go and have to start over again in a couple of years. AND I'm bringing it camping tomorrow.

Trade for a sports car. Prefer C4 Corvette, Camaro, etc. Depends on what catches my eye. No Fords, no motorcycles. I'll leave the post up til I find something I want or give up. BTW - no parts:rolleyes:. You know what I've got in this so I won't bother going through that. On the trade - clear title in your name and has to have good inspection AND be able to get one from a reputable inspection station (not brothers cousins 4th removed bought one from...).

Also interested in older sports cars. Anything (I think, I'll have to check) below 1982 does not get smog checked here.

78 Blazer, Bonanza package. Original window sticker and owners manual.
Runs great and drives great. 4 wheel disc brake. About 25 mpg.
===========================
(All parts below have about 20 to 30k miles
Cummins 4BT
NV4500
NP205 twin stick
===========================
-D60, 4.56, knuckle out bearings, etc have 20 to 30k
-14BFF, carrier and pinion bearings have about 20k to 30k,
detroit locker, disc brakes, caddy calipers,
===========================
-LAV tires - 11x16 Mich, with spare
===========================
-new carpet
-4 core radiator
-new ac compressor
-200 amp alt
-hydroboost brakes (all new parts about 20 to 30k miles)
-cb
-DIY Shackle flips
-One ton springs all four corners
-Steering box was changed at the time of building along with the drag link.
-Poly body bushings.
-new water pump
-Hydralic clutch stuff new at build time.

I'm tired so I'll type more later if I think of it or you ask. That is not an oil leak on the other side of the tire.

No Fords
No boats - I wouldn't have anything to pull it with
no motorcycles - I don't ride on death traps
no planes - I don't ride in death traps
no RVs - Can't afford to put fuel in them
no 4-wheelers - I have one, it's a Blazer
no sand-rails - there is no sand around here
no race cars - street legal only

Doug--I'm suprised you're letting go of this--I know you put a lot of hard work into it. I wish I had the money--I'd offer you cash, but I just put 4k into my front porch--needed an overhaul and bad. Thanks for answering all my questions about the conversion in the past. May I ask why you're selling it?

Thanks

Jeff

Letting it go because I barely have time to even cut my grass these days and my work car (firebird) needs an engine transplant I don't have time for. Even though I have a complete exhaust to computer TPI 350 waiting to go in it. The Blazer doesn't fit in the parking garage at work.

Getting too old. 7 and 1 year old kids. Its certainly not a money issue. If I don't find something I want then I'll keep it and bite the bullet one more time on the firebird.

I'm just tired. If you'll note in the pics the switch box sitting on the floor. I've been working on that small project for over a month. Just putting in some switches.

V-8s only. I don't have far to go to work so I really don't care about fuel mileage. If I can't go slow I want to go fast.

I'll have to think about the cash - most don't want to give enough money. I felt it would be easier to get a fair trade.

I think your truck definitly stands out enough to ask a fair cash price. I've seen some of the nicer 89-91 K30 crewcabs on here selling for well over $10K. This truck would easily fit in that catagory with the quality of work you have done. Not to mention the K5 looks like an excellent original body/interior to start with.

(I sent this in a email to someone, so I thought I should post it here)

I haven't given much thought to how much cash. I was looking for a trade. You probably know what I’m saying below, but I will go through it anyway as I need to send it to a few other people.

Below is what I spent/worth that I can remember quickly. I’ll of course take somewhere less than that on a trade and/or cash. But I’ll come out better on a trade. And if someone also has something they put a lot of money in and can’t get it out, they would also come out better.

I’m looking in the neighborhood of a trade worth $10,000. A trade worth $10,000 on the market may be worth more in the money they spent on it as my truck is below – so I’d come out better.

Or $10,000 cash to buy something. Before I take too much loss on it, I’ll go ahead and bite the bullet and put the TPI 350 in my firebird and keep both. I like the truck. It’s solid, drives great, and will probably last until I die – not that young anymore. As little as I drive it and I don’t bring it offroad.

cost of truck (minus drivetrain) 2000
Engine 3500
trans/xfer 2500
Rear end 800
Front end 1300
AC/compressor 300
custom a/c lines 150
rear drive shaft built 275
A/C compressor mount 60
200 amp alt 300
Front springs 350
rear shackle flip 150
tires 5 x 300 1500
rear calipers 150
pyrometer 150
cb 75
electric fan 60
carpet 300
misc - who knows for sure 300
My time to do it - priceless

No sports car to trade but wanted to say...

Kinda glad your not closer, otherwise I'd be getting into the kids collage fund to buy that thing.

Hi Crawlink5,

I PM'd ya with some of this info... but had more questions and figured I should post up also.

Ive been looking for an old Blazer for a DD... this is not quite what I was looking for (bigger tires than I was planning, as if that's a bad thing, yeah right ), but the diesel has my ears perked up!

How loud/much vibration with that motor?

What kind of shape are the tires in (couldn't really see in the pics).

Interior looks good, but does it need a new driver's seat? Exterior looks great. Body ever get restored/repainted? Any rust (chassis/body)?

Got receipts for the awesome parts you put in 20-30k ago?

Sounds totally solid. Would you hesitate to drive it cross country? I'm a little far away, but I drove my burb back from Sacramento. :wink1:

No nice rigs out here unless transplanted from somewhere else.

AWESOME RIG!

How loud/much vibration with that motor?
It is loud and it vibrates. I don't think either is too bad. Others may think it is. That is something each individual has to decide - it ain't no honda.

What kind of shape are the tires in (couldn't really see in the pics).
Two are near new, spare is new with label, other two are about 1/2 to 3/4.

Interior looks good, but does it need a new driver's seat?
Drivers seat has about a 2" hole in the fabric were I've been getting in and out. on the far side.

Exterior looks great. Body ever get restored/repainted? Any rust (chassis/body)?
There was a small rust hole behind the drivers door at the bottom. I cut it out and welded in a patch. It looks as if the light tan was painted over (or on). The paint design came from the Fall Guy. The paint is not new and it has primer where I repaired the rust. I have no solid info on the Bonanza paint design. I don't know if the dark brown has ever been painted over. The white top has. IT IS NOT A SHOW TRUCK.

Got receipts for the awesome parts you put in 20-30k ago?
Some I may dig up but as I don't have my hands on them I'll say no. I'm not one to keep receipts. I prob have one for the trans/xfer or you could call up Gear Tech HD and ask. I most likely have others. That was about two years ago when I started buying stuff and I did not plan on ever selling it. The parts are there and are easily visible. The parts are nothing special - just 1 ton stuff that costs money.

Sounds totally solid. Would you hesitate to drive it cross country?
I'd drive it any where right now within the borders of the US. I wouldn't leave this country in any vehicle.

=================================================

You must understand that I am not trying too hard to sell it - especially at $10,000. Want it, take it for $10,000. Cash. No Checks. ABSOLUTELY No negotiations. No warranties. No promises. No Shipping. No dealing with kids at what ever age they may be. Must be of legal age. All paperwork must be done legally before taking possesion of vehicle.

(I do not finance, the bank does. Don't ask me what bank. Your bank. :doah: yes there is a story behind this one and I'm still shaking my head.)

Really not trying to be a hard ass - you should see some emails I get. :D I'm trying to cover everything each time I post for the questions I get between posts.

trade for a 72 chevelle? Grandma was orig. owner from california.I restored it with a crate Vortec 350, Mallory unilite, Edelbrock carb, new disc brake conversion(all new lines, propo valve, calipers, rotors etc)and a line lock for fun. All new steering, suspension, rims, tires, stereo, amp, 10 cd changer all hidden to look stock, carribean blue(dupont), interior is immaculate as well as outside. Im asking $12k. Havent been trying hard to sell but Im looking for a tow rig for my crawler and just dont drive it [email protected]

I would be interested.

I'll send an email when I go downstairs to the laptop. Just got this one back up after a HD crash.

Car really looked great but no factory A/C. Weather down here I guess doesn't compare to the PROK. 100+ during the summer is brutal. If it just had an A/C but needed repair...

So, still up for trade.

What kind of clutch are you running? Gotta be beefy with all that torque right?

Is the chassis/underbody clean (rust free)? Got any pics of the underside?

The clutch is for a 1991 one ton chevy truck, Luk brand, kevlor material

DCP_1920_sm.jpg

No rust on underside of truck. I'll post pics of the under side later today or this weekend - gotta shop.

To give a little background on the truck, It was originally bought in New Mexico. Stayed there awhile and as I understand it was warehoused. Someone in New Orleans bought it to restore a year or two before I got it but decided he was too old so he sold to me. I do not know if that is the complete list of owners but it saw an easy life. Has never been wrecked.

Something I didn't put on list. Steering box was changed at the time of building along with the drag link. Poly body bushings. Hydralic clutch stuff all new.

From an outside source:
Doug you're nuts!!

But if you are set on selling I'll give my .02cents
I transported(drove) this truck from baton rouge to spring, TX for doug, never drove anything on 38.5" tires and this truck tracked straighter and drove better than my 91 toyota 4x4 on 30" tires. This truck is definately done right, the diesel drone is not really that bad nor is the vibration anything more than tolerable (its a 12V diesel) What blew my mind was after a few hundred miles thinking I might need diesel(not trusting the gauge) and it only took 12 gallons, I calculated in the range of 28mpg! Towing a small utility trailer loaded with car parts, tires and toys.

Wish I had something worthy of trading my position still stands, if you ever decided to get rid of both the bird and iroc without doing the motor swap or with it swapped I am interested. Looks like I will e parting with my yota and 2wd chevy in trade for that clean 88tbi blazer in lafayette my buddy has.....not to worry its 4bt bound as well.
